SAS, the Scandinavian carrier, has a pretty simplistic youth tickets programme which may make flying a little accessible for the young and adventurous.
In a nutshell, and where available, it offers youths the ability to gain access to reduced ticket prices when flying on SAS.
Not surprisingly it is not the first carrier to do so, Air France has their Youth programme, which fortunately SAS is a lot more open in comparison.
You can find out more about SAS Youth Tickets on the carriers’ website, but these are the things you need to know.
Who Is Eligible For SAS Youth Tickets?
Pretty simply, SAS youth Tickets are available for anyone aged 12–25 and Youths flying on a youth ticket must be able to prove their age with a valid ID.
Children, aged 2–11 years, travelling with another person aged 16 years or older who is travelling on a SAS Youth ticket, can also book SAS Youth tickets. However unaccompanied minors cannot travel on a youth ticket.
What Types of Tickets Are Available?
SAS books Youths into its SAS Go travel class (which is described as its “best value travel class”).
Specifically, you will only be able to book Youth fares in fare classes “V” & “O” – once these fares buckets are sold out you won’t be offered a youth fare.
There are two types of tickets, “SAS Go Light Youth” and “SAS Go Smart Youth”
SAS Go Smart Youth – the was the original Youth fare going back many years. It offers a single carry-on and checked bag and, in some cases, you can even rebook your ticket for a fee (which is the only main difference between SAS Go Youth and standard SAS Go)
SAS Youth Go Light – in October 2018, SAS launch Youth Go Light, if nothing more to get the youth of tomorrow accustomed to an unbundled economy system. The fare only allows for one cabin bag which must fit under the seat. As with the standard SAS Go, you still have the option to add extra services later on, such as baggage, meals, seat etc.
