The Admirals Club refers to both the membership program and the network of lounges operated by American Airlines. The program was started in 1936 to recognise friends of the airline and loyal passengers. In its inception, American Airlines’ planes were known as the “Flagship Fleet”, consequently, members were called “Admirals”.
All things considered, this open membership policy still stands to this day and becoming a paid member has its perks over that of members who use status.

Flagship Lounge is American Airlines’ most premium lounge tier, offered only in select cities. In contrast to the Admirals Club, access to the Flagship Lounges can only be gained through status.
With this in mind, billed as American’s creme de la creme, Flagship Lounges used to be open to just international first class and Oneworld Emerald passengers, however they are now open to international business class and Oneworld Sapphire passengers.

Many people don’t bother and skip the arrivals lounge unless they are travelling on business. However, being nearly almost always empty, they are a good source to freshen up, have a shower and grab before the day get under way.
It is important to remember that arrival lounges fall outside the OneWorld agreement, so there is no requirement for airlines to provide them and entry rules are completely at their discretion.
