What is The Hi Belgium pass?
The Hi Belgium Pass, formally launched in September 2017, a joint initiative by Brussels Airline, Brussels Airport, the Belgian railways and several tourism offices to make Belgium more accessible to the European Market. The pass works in tandem with the Belgium Stop Over program which is geared towards non-European travellers. It was coined after the March 2016 bombings which saw tourism plummet across the country.
What’s Included
Hi Belgium is comprised of three component parts for a fixed price of for €149 Euros per person inclusive of taxes.
Flights are booked on Brussels Airlines “check & go” fares meaning up to 12 kg of checked luggage and seats allocation can only be selected up to 24 hours before departure during check-in.
You will need to arrive between Thursday and Saturday and depart between Sunday and Tuesday. changes to your itinerary are not allowed.
The train ticket can be used on as many trips as you want across the whole of Belgium for the duration of your stay. Technically it covers 31 days before the date of the return flight back to the departure airport, and includes 2 trips from/to Brussels Airport without payment of the Diabolo fee (a charge for train trips to/from that airport’s station that applies on top of most flat-rate tickets and passes). The ticket is for 2nd class seats for almost any train. The only exceptions are the Eurostar, Thalys and ICE trains.
A maximum of two activity vouchers to be used in two Belgian cities of your choice. There are 7 cities to choose from including Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Leuven, Mechelen and Liège. While the cities are selected at the time of booking, the choice can be changed up to the day of arrival.
The Booking Process
The Hi Belgium Pass can be booked up to 16 weeks before and up to 3 weeks before departure. A maximum of 6 Hi Belgium passes can be bought in a single purchase order. During the booking process, you can click on two cities for which you would like to receive an activity voucher.
Once your booking has been completed, you will receive a triple reply e-mail with information on your flight details, a downloadable train ticket and the activity vouchers in PDF format.
Activity vouchers have to be collected, on arrival, from a dedicated counter in the arrivals hall at Brussels Airport. While the cities are selected at the time of booking, the choice can be changed up to the day of arrival.
