British Airways is quietly publicising the fact that you can now do an overnight bag drop at a few select airports the day before you fly.
While launched in February 2020, HeadforPoints cites that it was quietly offered to passengers offered since last Autumn 2019 to anyone who turned up and asked. British Airways has now decided to make it an official part of its service.
What happens if you want to check in earlier (but not the day before)?
Heathrow, likely due to its size and capacity, can take your bags earlier on the same day if you are travelling in a premium cabin or have elite status with the airline (not available for status on other Oneworld member airlines)
Cabin or Executive Club tier | Opening times |
---|---|
First Club World Club Europe Executive Club Gold, Silver and Bronze Members | From 05:30 on the day of departure at Terminal 5 or 05:00 on the day of departure at Terminal 3 |
World Traveller World Traveller Plus Euro Traveller | From 3 hours before your flight departure time, but not before the earliest opening time of 05:00 or 05:30 depending on Terminal |
Worth noting that the automatic bag drop at Heathrow Terminal 5 will accept bags from anyone, regardless of status, from 05:30.
